Tulip fields and daydreams

Well, there were lots of daffodils. A few tulips, but not the broad swaths of color I was hoping for. On the upside, we drove all over the place, had lunch in LaConnor (which is this remarkably cute little town on the waterfront with a couple of beautiful hotels and inns), and then drove up through Anacortes and all the way down to Clinton, and then took the ferry back to Mukilteo.

Gorgeous. Just trees and water everywhere. Definitely made me remember that while I like cities, there is a pace of life that is really nice when you can't see your next-door neighbor. I'm not sure I'd actually want to commute back and forth all the time or anything, but if I had a job that I could do on the computer at home, or if I only went into the office every few days, I'd totally want to live on the north half of Whidbey Island. And the land at least is stupidly cheap. There was a sign for 5 acres for less than $100,000. Definitely wanting to stop living like a grad student and actually be able to make a home. Oh, and the number of dogs you could have in a place like that...

So far this quarter is going better. Better classes that I'm taking at least, and definitely better students. Granted, it's only the first week, but I have hope. I am getting antsy though, for the next vacation. And it's going to be annoying to have John gone for the next couple of weeks. At the same time, by the time that he's done traveling, I'll be almost half done with the quarter, which means at least I'll be able to get homework done and grade without feeling like I'm being cranky to him all the time.

Tomorrow's plan is to take him to the airport, go grocery shopping, and do all my 502 homework. Or at least most of it. If it's a nice day, I want to go run around Greenlake too (see, if I put that in here, that means I actually have to do it). Maybe I'll take my homework with me and stretch out in Sunset Park. There are definitely worse ways to spend a Sunday.

And in other news, 2 weeks left of Lent- 2 weeks til Cadbury eggs!
