Just found out they are selling my apartment building. Any idea how this usually works, since I'm on a month-to-month lease?

Love is in the air! [Apr. 4th, 2007|08:35 am]
[mood |pleasedpleased]

Spring really must be in the air-- two of my closest friends from college have sort-of announced their engagements within the last week!

Congratulations to Tink and Adam (who "announced" by changing their status on facebook) and Alisa and Dustin!

Day to day [Mar. 27th, 2007|09:39 pm]
Returned most of my financial aid, bought my textbook, found out I'll have my third interview at Mosaic next week, was fed dinner by a cute blond boy, watched Citizen Kane, and filed my graduation application, all today. Oh yeah, and took a class, and taught a class, and worked three hours.

Somehow the pile of dishes remaining in my sink seem less important.

Weekend Culture [Mar. 26th, 2007|01:13 pm]
So this was a weekend of updating my movie culture- I pulled the "100 Classic Movies" from AFI's website and was heartily embarrased to have only seen about 14. No more! There was much movie watching this weekend, with one more to go this week:

Now seen:
-The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
-The Godfather
-Lawrence of Arabia
-Bonnie and Clyde

And still to go this week:
-Citizen Kane

And in case anyone was interested, I made Brussels Sprouts with Cranberries and Salmon with Blackberry Butter Sauce this weekend too- both turned out well. The blackberry sauce didn't need nearly as much butter as it called for (I think I only used about 1 Tbsp.) and the brussels sprouts disappeared very quickly.... *

*as in I ate them for breakfast this morning. Wha-hoo!

Portfolio goodness [Jan. 29th, 2007|08:07 pm]
I too am thinking of a portfolio sometime in the near future, but so far have been entirely uncreative in naming it (unlike Jen and Janice). Anybody got any good ideas for ways to do something with my name that would be recognizable but not obnoxious (eg more creative than pletchernotfletcher.com)?

Please and thank you.

Sunny days [Jan. 28th, 2007|02:47 pm]
[mood |lazylazy]

In an effort to not be an entire cranky pants this weekend, I give you these pictures. Two from the sculpture park downtown (which isn't finished which I found a little weird, but is still highly worth a walk on a beautiful day), and one of the puppy who has apparently taken over the house in KS. As I try not to laugh at my folks too much, I present you these:

Looking across at the mountains which have decided to again grace us with their presence.

The eagle sculpture with tiny pocket sized people,
leaning all over it.

And, of course, the new puppy. (Subtext= Hi. Whatcha doin'? Does it involve a treat?)

Because life wasn't exciting enough [Nov. 4th, 2006|09:05 pm]
My car got broken into tonight, in the hour and a half between getting home from the grocery store and getting ready to go to John's to watch a movie.

The thieving bastards either were very smart or were watching me because they pried the window out of the frame, unlocked the car, took the stereo and the face plate which was not attached, but left everything else. They were at least considerate enough to re-lock the car.

The rest of my Saturday night will now be spent hoping John can fix my window and waiting for the police to call back so I can file a report and call my insurance company. And if the police say that odds are good they were watching, I get to start looking for a new apartment, because seriously.

Neat.
